Washington, DC. "Enlace Cuba 2009," the seven-part television series highlighting seven contemporary artists living in Cuba was launched by the Hispanic Information and Telecommunications Network (HITN) on October 15, 2009.
According to HITN, they are the first public education network to produce an on-going series of television programs dedicated to Cuban culture and society.
The preview of the documentary was held at the IDB Conference Center in Washington, DC. It highlighted excerpts of the artist interviews from all seven series. The Cuban artists showcased in the documentary are: Adigio Bentez, Alicia Leal, Flora Fong, Juan Moreira, Luis Enrique Camejo, Kelvin Lopez Nieves, and Kadir Lopez Nieves.
In "Enlace Cuba 2009," the artists share their artistic visions, their passion for creating art and the processes they use, daily life in Cuba and how that informs their works, histories, and aspirations.
The preview event was hosted by the Puerto Rican visual artist Antonio Martorell, who is also the narrator of the series.
The film series are in Spanish with English subtitles, and will be on screen begining October 25, 2009.
