Art Space RenditionNew home for the National Gallery
To date, over 2.2 million dollars (financial goal is 3.2 million) has been raised to realize the new National Gallery building slated for construction in 2010 on a site just off the Esterley Tibbetts Highway near the Harquail Theatre in Cayman Islands.
Project manager, Jeremy Superfine of BCQS, architect Danny Owens of OA&D Architects, and NG Management Board Building Committee Chairperson John Doak, hope to have the building ready for occupancy by 2011. The larger facility will enable the gallery to host wider and more diverse types of functions and exhibitions than currently possible. The new Gallery will host a permanent display area for Caymanian Art, and it will provide for more comfortable facilities for tourists and local visitors, thereby enhancing their experience and appreciation of Caymanian visual arts. The new facilities will also allow the Gallery to house an educational center and classrooms on the same premises.
Through its increased usage, the new home will enhance the profile of the National Gallery as one of the Cayman Islands' most treasured institutions.
Corporations or individuals interested in contributing to the National Gallery building fund are able to name sections of the building, grounds, benches or trees in their company or family names. Please contact Natalie Coleman, the Gallery director to support this great project.
